Team Toyminator coverage of Toyota Show in Puerto Rico

I was recently going through my picture archives and found a SD card with pictures I never had the chance to share with anybody.  These were pictures of the very first ever Concentracion de Toyotas in Cataño Puerto Rico.  This was around 4-5 years ago.  This has since grown to become a huge event in Puerto Rico with Toyotas coming out of the wood works from all corners of the island.  I remember having a great time there.  I hope to be able to go back one day and experience it again.

Best Old School Category presented by Shift Gear for Summer Slam

Shift Gear will be presenting a specialty category for the old school imports in attendance.  It will be 1st, 2nd and 3rd place trophies.  The general rule of thumb we use when selecting the cars is any import 93' and down although there are a couple exceptions to the rule based on body styles.  Once you arrive make sure to come to our booth and let us know you have an old school ride present.  We will give you a sheet to place on your windshield.  Nothing else is necessary.  Hope to see a lot of old school rides there.  Let all your friends know to bring their old schools out!  E-mail sales@shiftgearclothing.com for any questions.

Pilones are back!!!

The latestest old school wheel to be resurected from the dead are the Libre Wheels a.k.a Pilones.  I think these wheels fully polished would be very nice although I think a 15x8 with a 0 offset might have been a little nicer.

Team Toyminator coverage of the 16th Annual T.O.R.C ALL TOYOTAFEST

Since I first heard about the T.O.R.C Annual Toyotafest it has always been a dream of mine to attend this event.  My biggest dream was to be able to do so in one of my personal old school Toyota's, but this year I got the next best thing.  I was able to be there in person and experience it for myself.  TORC was a big influence on our annual Team Toyminator car shows.  The feeling to walk into this event and see so many different types of preserved Toyota's is aweinspiring.  It really leaves you at a loss for words.  The old school Toyota culture on the West Coast is very strong and present as you can tell from the pictures.  Hundreds of Toyotas were in attendance along with thousand's of Toyota enthusiasts.  It was an honor for me to be able to make the pilgramage to California to be a part of it and share experiences with fellow Toyota owner's.  It is something I still dream on attending, with one or both of my personal Toyotas in the future.  I hope you enjoy the pics.

La Fiebre 2nd Annual Old School Parts Swap

On June 5th on 364 Broadway Ave. in Newark, NJ, La Fiebre hosted their 2nd Annual Old School Import Parts Swap.  The weather was great and there were hundreds of people in attendance.  Many clubs showed there presence including; Team Toyminator, OSTC, NY Toyotero's, NY Rollaz, Pepino Toyota Club and many familiar faces in the old school import scene.  It is always great to be able to unite and share stories and ideas with fellow old schooler's along with being able to find those hard to find parts that us old schooler's oh so love to keep stashed away in our garages.  These events are about so much more than making a few dollars on those door panels you've held onto for the last 10 years, it's about remaining united as a strong community who is willing to help eachother and support eachother in everyway possible.

Thank you to the entire La Fiebre crew for putting together this phenominal event.  Special thank you to the Executive Chef Mike Lopez and the lovely La Fiebre women for keeping everyone stomach's full with some authentic Puerto Rican cooking.

You can check La Fiebre out here: http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100001998374619

42nd Annual NHRA Supernationals

We were in attendance on Saturday, Jun. 4th at the 42nd Annual NHRA Supernationals.  Coming from the world of Import Drag Racing I didn't know what to expect.   If you have never attended an NHRA Top Fuel or Funny Car event you don't know what you are missing.  There is no way to expalin sitting in the stands and having your chest and the stands underneath you shake as two top fuel dragsters fly by at 300+ mph in a span of 4 seconds or less.  You know these cars are fast when they would have problems of the line and run a 7.5 @ 93 mph.  The smell of nitro methane and the burning it gives your eyes and nose is also another experience that is hard to explain.  All in all if there is a NHRA Top Fuel or Funny Car event going down at your local track you should take the trip and experience it for yourself.

DIY - Replace your valve seals 4AGE 20V

this is done on a silvertop 20v. generally, the steps are very similar, just some things change. please refer to your fsm if its a different motor. i can say that the 16v is very similar, just the cam gears dont have the center marks to line up against each other, and the bolt loosening/tightening sequence might be different, i didnt check.

THIS IS A GENERAL, STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE ON HOW TO CHANGE YOUR SEALS

-gather all needed tools for the job. you dont want to be searching once you start.
-start with unbolting the negative terminal on your battery.
-next, remove the cam gear covers(top and middle) and the spark plug cover.
-remove spark plug wires and loosen plugs.
-heres the seals i used. 2 sets from an '03 toyota echo made by Fel-Pro. $54 each at pepboys, i got to love the discount i got, $20 each!
